Mathis Biabiany

I combine design, motion and real-time 3D into experiences that feel striking and alive

Hi, I'm Mathis! A French artist and creative technologist based in Switzerland.

It started at Gobelins. Right after graduating I spent a month crossing Japan with friends, projecting animated visuals onto forests, temples and building facades. That trip settled things: I wanted to make images that exist in real time, and ideally somewhere you can stand in front of.

Then came Resn, the best web agency in Amsterdam, where I built WebGL and AR experiences with an incredible team. I learned a lot there but mostly that if you can't figure out the math, use Photoshop and a bunch of textures.

Japan called back. I ended up living there almost three years, VJing in Tokyo clubs and building visuals in Unity between projects. Two very different rhythms, the same obsession.

These days I work freelance from Switzerland, splitting my time between client projects and things that don't have to justify themselves like shaders, generative artworks, experiments that go nowhere and teach me everything. Talking about procedural stuff, please have a look to my art!

Two thank yous while I'm here. To Mr. Doob and the community, for three.js, because I kind of use it every day. And to Sebastian, who helped me design this portfolio and made it look far better than anything I'd have come up with on my own.

If you've got something strange, epic or smooth you'd like to build, I'd love to hear about it.
